And you still think the U.N. is useful?

Worse than useless, the U.N. is a harmful distraction.
We try in vein to get Russia and China (a pseudo-dictatorship and a currently communist regime, respectively) to agree to sanctions against Iran. They say yes, then they say wait a minute let's not be too rash.

Now, the U.N. has put Iran on its commission on women's rights.
And, who better than a mullah-controlled regime that stones women and literall
y sends out the fashion police to watch for women who dress immodestly or too Western?

Hey, maybe there's an anti-terror commission we can put them on, where the venerable committee will watch out for nation states with nuclear ambitions that fund terrorism worldwide and kill U.S. troops?

If you think the U.N. is a valuable institution, then you have truly drank too much of the KoolAid.

You can't wish it away: Iranian Nukes coming to a shore near you

Have you ever noticed that only the truly psycho regimes parade their missiles in public? The Soviets did this. Saddam did this. The Iranians and North Koreans love to do this. Nuts.

And what, exactly, is a lethal response to a country like Iran if they were to attack us first with a nuclear weapon? Do you obliterate Iran's cities? We could no doubt do this with ease. But what would be the point - killing all those innocent people, most of whom probably hate the mullahs anyway.

The answer is, there is no satisfactory response.

So the only solution to this problem is... a preemptive strike. Avoid nuclear war in the first place.

This new story coming out of our own Defense Department may finally force the hand of the U.S.: Iran may be able to reach us with a missile in 5 years. They'll be capable of producing a nuclear weapon before then - so all that's left is to figure out how to put that on a missile, and we have ourselves a new cold war with a culture and religion we can't even comprehend. At least in the good ol' days of the Cold War we knew Russia wouldn't sacrifice her existence to make nuclear war with us. There is no guarantee of that with Iran, whose leaders seem to be of the suicide bomber mentality.

The West spent half a decade denying and ignoring the threat of Hitler. And none of the wishing away, the peace movements, the hope, the negotiations, and the signed treaties - none of it prevented the largest war this world has ever seen.

Two Huge Tells In One Week by Obama

Did anyone else notice, that within one week Obama made friendly overtures to Iran, and was rebuffed, and received friendly overtures from Israel, and rebuffed them.

In one week he tried to make friends with enemies, and make enemies of friends.

It's difficult to destroy foreign policy that much in one week, but we as able to.

Plan B on Iran: let them have nukes?

Downright scary. Iran with nukes.

I don't get the U.S.'s game on this: Are we really willing to put this off onto Israel (that being, military action to stop nuke development)? We are really going to sit by and watch Iran get nukes?

So far, international action on this has been... inaction. We can't even get the UN Security Council to agree on "tough sanctions.".

Iran won't negotiate on this. It will only forestall. It won't stop until it is stopped from an outside force. If Iran attains nuclear weapons capability, then expect one to come floating up to the shores of Israel sometime soon after that. Heck, maybe even New York or LA. Put a nuke on a boat, have your terrorist friends sail it close to a city of their choosing. Simple.

Eye for an Eye, Literally, In Iran

No, this story is not 800 years old.

BBC reports that an Iranian court orders a man to be made blind by acid, the same way he attacked his victim.

Quotes:
A court in Iran has ruled that a man who blinded a woman with acid after she spurned his marriage proposals will also be blinded with acid.

The ruling was reported in Iranian newspapers on Thursday.

The punishment is legal under the Islamic Sharia code of qias or equivalence, which allows retribution for violent crimes.

Iran Ready To Make A Nuke

"They clearly have enough material for a bomb," said Richard Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb and has advised Washington for decades. "They know how to do the enrichment. Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that's another matter."

This is simply unbelievable. We, the world, have watched as Iran defiantly told the world they were pursuing nuclear technology, and have watched ever since as the centrifuge sites have proliferated, and Russia has enabled them by selling them the necessary technology. And now, we watch as the International Atomic Energy Agency tells us that Iran has has enough enriched uranium to make a bomb. Don't worry, though, they say. They probably can't make a bomb out of it. Yet.

Whew. That's a relief.

Israel will have no option but to bomb all of these facilities and the craven world will sit back, watch, publicly show outrage and censure Israel, and then under their breath thank Israel for saving the world. Such is the state of the brave, clear-headed leaders of the "free world".

Full story here.

Quotes:

Iran has now produced roughly enough nuclear material to make, with added purification, a single atom bomb, according to nuclear experts analyzing the latest report from global atomic inspectors.

The figures detailing Iran's progress were contained in a routine update on Wednesday from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has been conducting inspections of the country's main nuclear plant at Natanz. The report concluded that as of early this month, Iran had made 630 kilograms, or about 1,390 pounds, of low-enriched uranium.

Siegfried Hecker of Stanford University and a former director of the Los Alamos weapons laboratory said the growing size of the Iranian stockpile "underscored that they are marching down the path to developing the nuclear weapons option."

"They have a weapon's worth," Thomas Cochran, a senior scientist in the nuclear program of the Natural Resources Defense Council, a private group in Washington that tracks atomic arsenals, said in an interview.

He said the amount was suitable for a relatively advanced implosion-type weapon like the one dropped on Nagasaki. Its core, he added, would be about the size of a grapefruit. He said a cruder design would require about twice as much weapon-grade fuel.
